Clayton
Kathryn van Langenberg- President
The President provides leadership of the committee and the club. Communication with CU is a vital part of the president’s role, including making sure the vision is communicated. The president makes sure important announcements are made, liases with AFES staff and various parties, oversees the running of the club, chairs meetings and helps set agendas
Personal message: I started studying Arts/Science at Monash since 2008 and am still going! For the most part I love being at uni. I also love drinking tea, hanging out with people, and warm weather. Discovering that God loves me and demonstrated this through Jesus' death and resurrection completely changed my outlook on life. Christian Union has been a great blessing to me during my time at uni - I've made some wonderful friends and have learnt a lot through talks, studies, camps and the other people involved in CU.
Josh Davis - Vice President
The Vice-President provide assistance in many ways. As well as deputising the President in their responsibilites, the Vice-President helps in ministry tasks, and in assisting the club to fulfil ministry purpose. They help mobilise members to get involved.
Personal Message: Hey guys! I'm in my seventh year of following Jesus Christ. As part of this, I study Arts/law, work at a pool and get involved with the Boys' Brigade. Although I dont have a Christian bumper sticker or a Koorong membership, I am passionate about Jesus and am looking forward to seeing how His Kingdom will be built through CU in the coming year. :)
Darryl Devadason - Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees the money (income and expenditure), assists with the allocating of resources (through budgeting and finance) and ensures CU's finances meets Clubs and Societies' (C&S') requirements to enable us to do our ministry. The treasurer helps to coordinate the stewardship of what God provides us with as a club.
Personal message: I'm in my second year of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Finance. When I'm not burrying my head in Accounting textbooks or crunching numbers I can be found attempting to teach myself breakdancing.
Stephen Hicks - Secretary
The Secretary assists CU by overseeing various administrative requirements of the club, such as making room bookings, keeping up-to-date with correspondance, keeping minutes of meetings and maintaining a membership register.
Personal message: I'm currently in my third year studying Civil Engineering. I've been involved with CU over the past three years and as secretary help run the club in many practical ways. I enjoy camping and being outdoors when I'm not trying to avoid being sunburnt, am a swim teacher during school terms and have been involved in beach missions and other kids and youth ministries.
Shaminka Gunaratnam - Prayer Secretary
The Prayer Secretary helps to maintain the club and its vision by keeping prayer as an essential facet of CU. To this end they facilitate prayer meetings and encourage people to pray. This helps in the running of the club as well as supporting its members. Praying together promotes Christian growth as prayer is an important aspect of the proclamation of the Gospel.
Personal message: Hey there! I'm super excited about being prayer secretary :) Talking to God is such an amazing thing! I'm a second year Behavioural Neuroscience student and when I'm not looking at brains, I enjoy writing and performing music and colour-coding my schedule.
Himadi Govinna - General Member
The General Member (in consultation with the committee) assists the CU in its ministry in whatever way they would like. The General Member can oversee social events the club runs, be responsible for promoting missions within the club or assist one of the other committee members in their tasks. Himadi wants to oversee the social aspect of CU and help promote the growth of friendships.
Personal Message: Hey! I'm currently in my first year of uni studying Nutrition and Dietetics. I love music, socialising and just having fun. I've been invovled in CU since the first welcome BBQ back in O-week which was awesome. I'm so excited to see as well as be involved in all the great things God has got in store for CU!
