At Monash Christian Union, we believe that God has revealed Himself to us through His Word, the Bible, and that faith comes through hearing His Word (Romans 10:17). We believe that the Bible talks - that by reading it and hearing it, we are actually hearing God Himself speak. That's why we run God Talks each Tuesday, so that every Monash student and staff member has an opportunity to hear God speak to us through His Bible.
God Talks
At God Talks we engage with God’s Word through:
- A Bible reading (which might sometimes take the form of Biblical Storytelling or a multimedia presentation)
- A main talk of 15-20 minutes providing an exposition of the Bible passage being studied at the meeting.
- One or two shorter talks (which could take the form of a testimony, book review or theological or cultural “hotspot”) related to the passage being studied.
- Multimedia presentations (such as vox pops and skits) to provoke discussion and reflection on the issues presented by the Bible passage being explored.
- Group discussion around (usually) table groups (with snacks and drinks provided) about the Bible passage and talks, with opportunities for you to raise questions you might have.
Our aim at God Talks is to provide an in-depth explanation of the Bible, accessible and engaging for any Monash student, of any background.
God Talks are held from 1 to 2pm each Tuesday in the Cellar Room (on the ground floor of the northern end of the Campus Centre, near the Post Office). Nb: In week 1 (March 2) God Talks will be held in the Main Chapel of the Religious Centre (buidling 9).
